Our Hospital Director Dr. Sally Mobraaten received her Veterinary Medical Degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1991. She has practiced veterinary medicince at Hickory Veterinary Hospital and Ark Animal Hospital in Pennsylvania and at Carpinteria Veterinary Hospital in Carpinteria. She has three collies, one cat, and fish. Her hobbies include showing her dogs in obedience and agility, gardening, and drawing.

Dr. Sherry Trujillo graduated in 1996 with her D.V.M. degree from the University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. She also received her M.P.V.M. and B.S. degrees at UC Davis. Prior to starting at Santa Barbara Pet Hospital in 2001, she lived and worked in Phoenix, AZ. She is married with two children, two dogs, three cats, and a Cuban tree frog. Her hobbies include playing French horn in the SB City College Orchestra and hiking.

Dr. Mckenzie Rasmussen received her Bachelor of Sciences from UCSB and her D.V.M. from St. Georges University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, and completed her clinical year of veterinary school in Edinburgh, Scotland. She joined SBPH's family as an associate veterinarian in 2006 after working at White's Pet Hospital in Santa Barbara. She has one dog, Luna, and three cats, Clyde, Dash and Violet. In her spare time she enjoys hiking, swimming, and reading.

Office Manager Rebecca Rockwell has been employed at Santa Barbara Pet Hospital since February of 2002.  She graduated from Carpinteria High School and was a Zoology major at SBCC before pursuing a job in the veterinary field full time. She credits her former boss, Dr. David Mutti, with further cultivating her lifelong interest in Veterinary medicine. She has two dogs, Frodo and Myles; two cats, Aslan and Ashley; and a rabbit, Alice.  Rebecca's lifelong dream of becoming an author was recently realized; her first novel, The Outlaw's Wife, was just published. A self-taught musician, Rebecca plays the guitar and the Sitar, a stringed instrument from India. She has a passionate interest in Indian music, art and culture and has been studying and practicing Vaishnava Hinduism for several years. Her other hobbies include listening to music,  watching movies, shopping, and oil painting.


Veterinary technician Alexa Mutti is a Santa Barbara native. She has worked at the hospital since she was 13. She has a cat, Maddie, and two beta fish. Currently a biology undergrad at Santa Barbara City College, she hopes to pursue a degree in animal science and research. Her other interests are music and art. An accomplished musician, Alexa plays seven instruments, and plays the clarinet with the Santa Barbara City College Concert Band.


Technician Manager Julie Birmingham has been employed at Santa Barbara Pet Hospital since November of 2005. A former bookkeeper, she recently switched career fields to begin training as a veterinary technician and is studying to complete her AA degree in Veterinary Technology. Julie has three dogs, Desmond, Mollie, and Rocky, and two cats, Elvira and Felicity. Her hobbies include playing the drums, kick boxing, and hiking.

Camilla Carlsson has been employed as a technician at Santa Barbara Pet Hospital since August of 2005. Growing up she spent every summer with her family in Sweden and speaks Swedish fluently. She attended both SBCC and Ventura College before working as a technician in another local animal hospital. She hopes to eventually become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Camilla has a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Bengal cat. She recently welcomed her first child, Scarlette Grace, into the world on November 14, 2006.  She enjoys singing, painting, drawing, clothing design and playing with her daughter and cat.

Receptionist Krista has been employed at Santa Barbara Pet Hospital since March of 2007 and is curently enrolled at Santa Barbara City College. Krista was born and raised in Louisiana. She has three cats, Josie, Charlie and Kidd. Her hobbies include traveling, watching movies, listening to music and spending time with her family.
